Development and Companionship at Bicol University Graduate School
A Week of Difficulties and Goodwill at Bicol University Graduate School
The second week of OJT at Bicol University Graduate School was a blur of duties, activities, and surprising friendships. Dr. Roldan Cabiles, commonly known as Sir Dan, became our guiding light as we began our academic path, encouraging us to explore new frontiers. We had no idea that this week would put us to the test and establish long-lasting relationships of friendship.
Cleaning and Organizing the Bookshelves:
Our week began with what appeared to be a routine task: organizing and cleaning the bookcases. I spent hours arranging the shelves with my classmates Ezra, Ashney, Kian, and Pili, making sure every book had its proper position. It was a test of patience and attention to detail, setting the groundwork for the challenges ahead.
Letters and Programs Distribution:
Our normal activities, however, took an unexpected turn when Sir Dan asked us to distribute letters and programs to various college departments around Bicol University. We immediately accepted the challenge, eager to explore each and every corner of campus. On this particular day, our group grew to include Juriniel and John Paul, who gladly gave their time after completing their work at the Bicol University College of Science.
We traveled the huge campus on this trip, immersing ourselves in the colorful ambiance that surged through its hallways. As we precisely delivered the letters and programs to their respective recipients, the East and Daraga campuses became our haunts. We became knowledge ambassadors, linking various academic areas.
The Surprising Company:
As the weight of the responsibilities and the distances we travelled began to weigh on us during the day, Juriniel, John Paul, Ezra, and I found consolation in each other's presence. Conversations flowed effortlessly, relieving our tiredness and turning ordinary events into moments of joy and connection. We exchanged tales, hopes, and aspirations, forming a bond that extended beyond our common academic interests.
A Filling Snack:
Dr. Mary Jane B. Mascarias, the distinguished dean of BUGS, surprised us with a modest yet wonderful gesture as the day came to a conclusion. She asked us to take a much-needed break, treating us to pansit and bread from an area bakery. Our exhausted faces lighted up as we enjoyed this healthy treat, thankful for our mentors' and peers' persistent support and direction.
A sense of success flowed over us as the week drew to an end. Despite the tiredness on our faces, we knew we had developed as persons, not simply as students. The trials we experienced had pushed us to our limits, but the support of our blockmates and Sir Dan's leadership had seen us through. We'd found the power of teamwork and the joy of making connections in unexpected places.
The second week at Bicol University Graduate School proved to be a life-changing experience. What began as a simple activity of organizing and cleaning bookcases quickly turned into a journey of distributing letters and programs. We found friendship and assistance throughout it all, reminding us that the true meaning of academics rests not just in the quest of knowledge, but also in the connections we form along the way. We waved farewell to the week with a mix of weariness and contentment, anxiously anticipating the challenges and progress that awaited us at Bicol University Graduate School.
